Chemicals in your skincare

You may see choose local, organic foods written on alot of my posts and this is really important but it’s also important to know and understand what you are putting on your skin. 60-70% of what goes on the skin, goes in the skin. The main additive/preservative that I want to put on trial is the family of parabens. Please don’t think that because i used the word family I mean nice family with the ma and pa, couple kids and the family dog. No. This is a family you don’t want to mess with.

David Suzuki wrote a great article on Parabens that everyone should take the time to read. Then start reading the shampoos, conditioners, lotions, makeup, everything that you currently own!! You just might be surprised. Some might be even more surprised to find parabens and more then one in baby products. There are lots of good alternatives that are just as nice smelling and excellent for your skin that do not contain these harsh, destructive chemicals.

  1. Great article Alicia, and you are so right. Can I shamelessly plug my place of employment? Come to The Shamporium in Kings Place and find some great, safe (for you and the environment) body care products!

    • Thanks for the comment Jess and of course you can. I’m all about promoting the local stores that care about people well being like the Shamporium, True Foods, and Auras. If anyone can name more local, organic or health food stores in their area please feel free to do so.
